… Across four tracks, totalling fifty-six minutes, the four improvise freely and deliberately, never rushing things but obviously listening to one another intently; changes of tempo or volume do not come at the behest of a single player but are clearly negotiated between the four and happen organically, sounding natural. Zwar ist ihr musikalisches Schaffen nur auf einem Tonträger der Berliner Free Music Production (Deutschlands wichtigstem Label für Improvisierte Musik) vertreten, jedoch galt das Quartett in seiner Urbesetzung mit dem Anfang 2016 verstorbenen Saxophonisten Wolfgang Fuchs als einflussreiche Band der zweiten Generation Improvisierender Musiker in der BRD. Darüber hinaus war XPACT Keimzelle des 1983 gegründeten Europäischen KING ÜBÜ ÖRCHESTRÜ, einem kammermusikalischen Gegenentwurf zu den damaligen lautstarken Free-Jazz-Orchestern.
